Senior Electrical Engineer

The Role

To provide direction, assistance and support with regards to the electrical engineering requirements of a project through development, pre-construction, construction and operation.

Duties and responsibilities associated with the role include:

  • Advise clients on technical aspects of their grid connection
  • Liaise with NGET and DNOs to secure the most favourable grid connection for the client/project.
  • Assist Project Manager with the delivery of the client’s project
  • Provide guidance and support to direct reports in the fulfilment of their duties
  • Ensure technical aspects of the electrical infrastructure of a project are designed, installed and commissioned correctly.
  • Facilitate compliance testing of a completed project
  • Review technical aspects of grid connection to ensure they meet current legislation
  • Review technical aspects of electrical infrastructure to ensure that any risks to operation, compliance and lifetime are identified.
  • Where required, mitigation measures to risks will be identified and budgetary costs and benefits detailed
  • Provide guidance and support to direct reports in the fulfilment of their duties
  • Undertake line manager duties for direct reports
  • The post-holder will be required to undertake such duties as may reasonably be expected.  All members of staff are expected to be professional, co-operative and flexible within the needs of the post, the department and the Company.
  • Duties of the post could vary from time to time as a result of new legislation, changes in technology or policy.  In this event, appropriate training will be provided.


  • Degree qualified in electrical engineering and/or relevant experience
  • Demonstrate a broad knowledge and understanding of engineering principles for project management
  • Knowledge of High Voltage networks, infrastructure and protection methodologies
  • Highly organised, detail orientated with the ability to effectively influence and negotiate across all levels
  • Exceptional time management skills coupled with an aptitude for flexibility
  • Pragmatic approach to problem solving


  • Previous experience within a consultancy
  • Significant previous experience in construction engineering or asset management
