Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Pilot

The Green House or Stirling

The Role

To conduct wind turbine blade inspections using the latest camera imaging techniques and drone technology at onshore and offshore wind farm locations in the UK and overseas.

Duties and responsibilities associated with the role include:

  • Conduct wind turbine blade inspections at wind farm locations onshore and offshore
  • Prepare and submit detailed reports for clients on the condition of the blades. Develop knowledge on all existing and latest blade inspection techniques and technologies
  • Ensure blade inspection equipment is stored, transported, serviced and maintained safely and effectively
  • Keep up to date and identify changes in rules and legislation for all inspection methodologies and equipment
  • Ensure required standard of service is achieved and maintained whilst ensuring efficient completion
  • Continual development and improvement of the reporting processes.
  • Understand the technical and commercial interactions to identify potential risks and develop/propose mitigation's
  • Supporting Inspections department with other tasks & duties as and when required
  • Duties of the post could vary from time to time as a result of new legislation, changes in technology or policy.  In this event, appropriate training will be provided
  • Due to the location of the role a full driving licence is essential



  • HNC/HND in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and/or apprenticeship and relevant UAS experience
  • CAA approved Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) qualification
  • Demonstrate experience with or knowledge of wind turbine blade inspection and repair
  • Flight experience with multi-rotor drones
  • Keen interest in aerial photography and familiarity with Hi-resolution cameras and equipment
  • Effective problem solving abilities, ability to prioritise and take initiative
  • Highly organised, excellent time management and an effective communicator
  • Can work cohesively as part of a team as well as demonstrate strong initiative, ability and confidence to make decisions autonomously



  • Degree qualified in an Engineering or Composites related discipline
  • Expert knowledge of WTG blade technologies and failure mechanisms

The Green House:  We are based in an innovative and environmentally friendly office in an 11,000-acre forest, allowing immediate access to outdoor activities in the Galloway hills, as well as a local environment which offers a beautiful landscape and excellent quality of life.  The Green House is one hour and forty minutes from drive from Glasgow and fifty minutes from Ayr and Dumfries, as such you must be committed to working in this fantastic area.
